Akshay Kumar starrer padman which was very well promoted by the film industry got a decent opening despite the colossal publicity
The movie makers came up with the creative ideas of promoting the movie on photo sharing application Instagram by channelling anyone in their contact list to hold the sanitary pad and post the picture on Instagram.
However, looks like such massive publicity is not working considering the box office numbers. On Friday that is on opening day movie just received decent footfalls and Friday collection stood at 10 cr. The second-day collection saw some rise in the collection and movie collected around 12 cr.
The expected movie collection for the first weekend will be around 35 cr which is not extraordinary considering the presence of Akshay Kumar and claimes by its producers for promoting the films as a content-rich film.
Interestingly PADMAN was initially scheduled to release on republic day, and then it was preponed to 25 January to get an extended weekend. Later Sanjay Leela Bhansali requested Akshay Kumar to postponed his movie so that ‘PADMAAVAT’ gets the solo release. Akki agreed to his request and released his movie on 9 Feb, and other movies which were scheduled to release on 9 Feb like ‘aiyaary’ and ‘pari’ went to postpone their releases.
PADMAN which is inspired from the real life of man from south although receiving good reviews from the critics, but the audience seems to fail with movie content.
Because of the presence of Akshay Kumar the movie will easily recover its budget and will surely make some profit for the makers, but the movie will not break many records. PADMAN has one full week to perform as from next week it won’t be solo release and movies screen count will come down due to other releases.
